Really was rough justice for them. I always want the US to win if not for nothing else to help promote the sport in their country. I liked Bruce Arenas interview after the match too. Instead of dwelling on his teams loss he critisized the over-zealousness of the card-weilding refs. I got to admit he's right. I don't remember so many yellow cards being handed out at this stage in any world Cup of my life. Better luck next time for the USA. Really.

I was honestly hoping that Sweden would put the Germans out but then those 2 goals came in rapid sucession and things looked bad. when Larsson missed his penalty I knew that luck was against your team and it was not to be. With that penaly Larsson would have become the hightest World Cup scorer in Swedish history and I figured since that went wrong..so would the final score :( Still..my original prediction is still on course that the bluddy GERMANS will find a way to win the tournament. I hope not but last night it felt like they just might. I felt for the Mexicans too. They put up a good fight and I really wanted them to win. I thought it might be the first match to go to penalties, in fact. So as you can see...I didn't have much of a smile on my face last night and with England playing today I hope things work out a bit more like the way I want. C'mon ENGLAND!
